Senior Wellness Check Program

The Senior Wellness Check Program is a community service offered by the Lake Royale Company Police Department to residents 65 years of age or older who live alone and would appreciate a weekly in-person visit from a police officer.
The program is designed to promote the safety, well-being, and peace of mind of participating residents while strengthening the department’s commitment to community-oriented policing.
How the Program Works
Residents enrolled in the program will receive a weekly wellness check from a Lake Royale Company Police Department officer. During each visit, the officer will knock on the resident’s door and announce their presence.
-
If the resident answers: The officer will check on the resident’s general well-being, ensure they appear safe, and confirm that there are no immediate concerns requiring assistance.
-
If the resident does not answer: The officer will listen for sounds of distress or movement inside the residence, when reasonably possible. The officer may also inspect the exterior perimeter of the residence or speak with nearby neighbors to determine whether there are any concerns regarding the resident’s safety.
If concerns arise during an officer's visit, they will take appropriate action based on the circumstances, which may include phoning the emergency contact, requesting emergency medical assistance, or conducting further investigation consistent with department policy.
Our Commitment to the Community
The Senior Wellness Check Program reflects the Lake Royale Company Police Department’s commitment to protecting our residents and ensuring that members of our community do not feel forgotten or overlooked.
A simple weekly visit can provide reassurance and potentially make a meaningful difference in someone's life.
The Lake Royale Company Police Department will make every reasonable effort to conduct weekly visits with residents enrolled in the program. However, staffing limitations, emergencies, and other unforeseen circumstances may occasionally prevent the department from completing a scheduled visit.
